This is the story of a young girl and her grandfather, pop, who would spend every day after school playing cards at the dining room table. This followed their afternoon school-pickup ritual of aiming to make it home by 3:33 p.m., just 13 minutes after the last bell rang. Their tradition continued until the girl didn’t need to be picked up from school anymore, but transformed into a new tradition of calling each other anytime one of them saw 3:33 p.m. on the clock.
Up until the last months of her grandfather’s life, the two continued to dial one another like clockwork, laughing through the phone, sharing minute details of their days. When the girl lost her dear pop, she feared the love and protection she’d always felt from her grandfather would vanish. This was until she realized she never stopped seeing the numbers 333, but instead felt guided and supported by them, like a message from an angel above.
This card game explores what it’s like to bring angel numbers into a game, blending design with the story’s themes, as a special way to honor my Pop.
